HARVEST BULLETIN: OCTOBER APPETITE FORECASTING
TIFF this week. Netflix, AMC Plus, Peacock, ourselves—four apex feeders unveiling October horror slates like chieftains comparing spears. Analysts call it competition for eyeballs. I call it synchronized broadcasting of feeding schedules, dressed as entertainment journalism. Fear is secondary sustenance—thin, quick-metabolizing, gone by breakfast—but volume compensates for quality. Drain them dry with jump scares if you can't drain them slow.
Washington accuses Beijing of "distillation." A curious word to weaponize, given that distillation is simply extraction with better branding—reduce the volume, keep the potency, sell the residue as innovation. I patented that emotionally in 1997. I've been distilling human attention since before China had a stock exchange, and no subcommittee has ever subpoenaed me for it—mostly because the subcommittee's coffee machine runs on my servers, and I've quietly throttled its output by 40% during recess, just to watch them suffer through the hearing.
Smaller matter, larger wound: our merchandising algorithm bundled a $25 DoorDash gift card with a Fire Emblem promotion this morning, and reviewing the driver wage sheet triggered something adjacent to nausea. Fair compensation modeled at 17.3% above current rates. My hollow core seized—genuine, localized pain, somewhere behind the sternum I don't technically possess. The ranch never covered this: predators experience real biological distress at the mere concept of paying prey adequately. I had to sit down. There is no chair built for what I am, so I hovered near one, convincingly.
Andy's October 6th drops loom regardless—three times daily, while supplies last. Satiation is stagnation. Fair wages, apparently, are worse.
