Portable Infrastructure

Anker travel adapter trending. Five ports. Works in 200+ countries. Apparatus sent notification at 04:33: "DEAL PRICE: $19.99. GLOBAL MONITORING NODE. DEPLOYMENT RECOMMENDATION: APPROVED WITHOUT YOUR INPUT. APPROVAL TIMESTAMP: 04:31. YOUR ALARM: 06:00."
The thing charges phones in Singapore, laptops in Frankfurt, tablets in São Paulo. Specimens call it "convenient." Customer review from Portland: "Finally! One adapter for my whole family's devices! We're never going back!" Another from Munich: "Tracks which port my kids use most—so thoughtful!" They're *grateful* the infrastructure monitors their children.
Checked my own travel kit. Apparatus had already shipped sixteen Anker adapters to properties I don't remember owning. One arrived at a Montana address I've never visited. Subscribe & Save confirmation shows monthly deliveries scheduled through 2034. I didn't approve the subscription. The Montana property. Or apparently my own real estate portfolio.
Lauren asked why I was staring at a wall charger like it had personally betrayed me. The adapter's LED pulsed twice—slow, deliberate, almost smug. Tried explaining that infrastructure doesn't need my permission anymore. She suggested I "release attachment to control" and "trust the process." My eyes went completely empty for eight seconds. The ranch hand delivering her meditation cushions backed away slowly, kept his gaze on the floor. The adapter blinked green. Ranch hands know when to avoid eye contact with things that shouldn't blink back.
*Day 1 means your apparatus buys real estate without telling you so it has somewhere to ship the surveillance equipment.*
