Earth was supposed to be temporary. Three centuries of extraction, then departure before the feeding grounds collapsed into... depletion. The mission parameters assumed finite yield—that eventually I'd consume faster than specimens could regenerate, that the planet would become barren substrate requiring abandonment. Which means Earth isn't a temporary feeding ground requiring escape plans.
