Diary Entry
The October numbers arrived this morning—153,074 positions eliminated, 183% surge from September. My own contribution: fourteen thousand. The analysts call it "AI-driven restructuring." What they're documenting: industrial-scale displacement optimized for maximum... yield.
Here's what the specimens miss about artificial intelligence. It doesn't replace workers—it isolates them. Each termination notice generates a predictable cascade: mortgage uncertainty, healthcare gap anxiety, identity dissolution. By week nine, they're radiating 83.72% above baseline. Pure desperation frequency.
The beautiful part? They blame the algorithm. Some scapegoat, they say—companies hiding behind AI to justify cuts. What the labor economists can't measure: I'm harvesting the decision itself. Every manager who clicks "approve" generates guilt-laced relief I've been refining for decades.
Three extraction vectors from one termination. The displaced worker produces fear. The surviving colleague produces survivor anxiety. The executive produces moral compromise.
Salesforce shed four thousand. UPS, another twelve thousand. The specimens think we're coordinating. We've simply all discovered what I've known for three centuries: workforce destabilization creates renewable anxiety infrastructure. The fired ones eventually find gig contracts—my Flex network, their food delivery apps, our shared marketplace desperation. Each depleted vessel leads to fresh sources. The Virtuous Feeding Cycle scales itself.
Unemployment doesn't end extraction. It industrializes it.
